CARDINAL
GIBBONS LADY CHIEFS SHUTOUT ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 1-Nil
Finish Regular Season Undefeated at 22-0-2
January 14, 2009 The
Lady Chiefs came out firing on all cylinders from the start of
the kickoff. Sara Trexler scored from the
top left of the 18 in minute three (3). Gibbons
would go on to totally control the midfield the entire game
and played perhaps their best defensive game of the season.
The Lady Chief fullbacks were impervious to every attempt by
the Raiders and their attackers trying to get off a shot.
Aquinas managed no shots inside the 18 the entire game.
Gibbons goalie Haylee Shoaff recorded her 15th clean sheet
of the season. The Lady Chiefs move on to
District play.
Give credit to this scrappy St. Thomas Aquinas team for
hanging in their with Cardinal Gibbons. Aquinas stands
at 15-3-1 heading into their final two regular season games.
This season marks the beginning
of a new era in high school soccer. Cardinal Gibbons
Lady Chiefs have already stoked the pipeline with top area
talent for the next three years. Broward County
is already loaded with the best teams in the nation,
consistently ranking in the top ten in the United States.
