Gibbons Women's Lacrosse Finishes the 2009 season with a narrow 12-11 loss to Pine Crest
in the district final matchup.
The young and very talented Chiefs haven't beaten Pine Crest
yet; however, they are determined to get that under their
belt next season. What's not to like about the future
with nine (9) starters returning for their
Junior season and a solid group of incoming freshman from
the local lacrosse league. Season record 12-6.
Lady Chiefs Lacrosse defeat Aquinas twice this
season. Cardinal Gibbons Lady Chiefs Lacrosse is
off to a great start with a 11-5 record heading into the district
tournament with two key victories over
St. Thomas including their St. Patrick's Day
Victory 9-3 at Aquinas' home field and for the second time 9-5 at the
Skins field. Gibbons defense was
stellar in both games. In game one, the Chiefs allowed a mere eleven (11) shots on goal for the evening; and
converted on 9 of 15 shooting. What the Gibbons soccer program
took thirty one (31) years to accomplish, the Lady Chiefs Lacrosse team
settled in year three (3). Congratulations Lady Chiefs Lacrosse.

Bobcats for the second time this season. Gibbons dominated possession
during the first half and outshot the Bobcats 9-4 but had trouble

from Mandy Kraft. After trailing 4-1 at half

The Lady Chiefs lacrosse team traveled to Davie to meet up
with University School Suns. From the outset this game was different as
Gibbons stick handling skills has now climbed geometrically since the 22
days of all the girls playing together. While far from perfect
skills, the ladies are clearly on the path to battling competitively any
of our district opponents. Cardinal Gibbons women's lacrosse
easily won this away game, 7-3. Cardinal Gibbons record
stands at 6-3.
Saturday, March 7, 2009
Gibbon's women's lacrosse hosted a district matchup with
University School of NSU this morning. The Suns were anchored by
seniors attackers Stephanie Gore, Demi Marks and senior goalie Jessica
Parker.
The Lady Chiefs continue to come together as a team;
however, by halftime the Chiefs fell behind 3-1. The ladies
battled back to tie the game and led 7-6 late in the second half before
ceding an equalizer to USchool. The two teams remained deadlocked
during the last seven minutes of regulation. USchool needed just fifty
(50) seconds in overtime to get the go ahead goal and that's how it
ended some five minutes and ten seconds later. It was an excellent
learning experience for both Lady Chief's players and coaches; and
something to build upon. The Lady Chiefs record is 5-3
