Gibbons Women's Lacrosse Finishes the 2009 season with a narrow 12-11 loss to Pine Crest in the district final matchup. The young and very talented Chiefs haven't beaten Pine Crest yet; however, they are determined to get that under their belt next season.  What's not to like about the future with nine (9) starters returning for their Junior season and a solid group of incoming freshman from the local lacrosse league.  Season record 12-6.

Lady Chiefs Lacrosse defeat Aquinas twice this season. Cardinal Gibbons Lady Chiefs Lacrosse is off to a great start with a 11-5 record heading into the district tournament with two key victories over St. Thomas including their St. Patrick's Day Victory 9-3 at Aquinas' home field and for the second time 9-5 at the Skins field.  Gibbons defense was stellar in both games.  In game one, the Chiefs allowed a mere eleven (11) shots on goal for the evening; and converted on 9 of 15 shooting.  What the Gibbons soccer program took thirty one (31) years to accomplish, the Lady Chiefs Lacrosse team settled in year three (3).  Congratulations Lady Chiefs Lacrosse.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 The Chiefs faced off against University School in the District Semifinals.  Gibbons pulled away from the Suns in the second half winning 11-5.   Maylis Broderick had a season high four goals, two by rolling the crease unassisted.  Sarah Motta finished with two goals and two assists, Sierra Carey and Erin Nunziante each had a pair of goals.  Lauren Holsinger, Jenny Grant and Sarah Mueller defense was so tough all night.   Kiera Moran recorded three draw controls, all leading to Gibbons goals.  Kristie Neubauer recorded eleven saves.  Record stands at 12-5.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Gibbons finished out the regular season against  Pope John Paul II coasting to a 15-3 victory. Gibbons defense was solid all game with Jennifer Grant, Sarah Mueller, Lauren Holsinger and Kristie Neubauer in goal.   The team record stands at 11-5.

Tuesday,  March 31, 2009 Gibbons traveled to St. Andrews School in Boca Raton for the first ever lacrosse match between the two schools.  The Scots entered the game undefeated.   After falling behind 6-0, the Chiefs rattled off eight straight goals and led 8-6.  Gibbons led 11-8 with 7:45 minutes left in the game.   Unfortunately, the Scots came roaring back and ran off five straight goals, before winning 14-12 as time expired.   A great game for Cardinal Gibbons against an excellent St. Andrews team.  Gibbons record stands at 10-5

Saturday,  March 28, 2009
The Lady Chiefs Lacrosse team took on St. Thomas on our home turf.   Possession was in favor of Gibbons during the first half; however, Aquinas led 5-3.   In the second, it was all Gibbons as they outscored the Raiders 6-1.   Katherine Clementi had the defensive game of her career causing numerous turnovers, including three key interceptions.   Sarah Motta led the scoring attack with five (5) goals. Other key scorers were Kiera Moran, Sierra Carey, Erin Nunziante and Maylis Broderick.  The final tally was 9-5 in favor of Gibbons.

Tuesday,  March 24, 2009 The women's lacrosse squad faced off against the talented Boca Raton Bobcats for the second time this season. Gibbons dominated possession during the first half and outshot the Bobcats 9-4 but had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net due to outstanding goalie play from Mandy Kraft. After trailing 4-1 at half time, Gibbons dominated the second half outscoring the speedy Bobcats 6-2.   Sarah Motta had two goals and one assist, Megan Renne had two goals, Sierra Carey, Kiera Moran and Maylis Broderick each added a goal.   Defenders Katherine Clementi, Lauren Holsinger and Sarah Mueller anchored a tough Gibbons zone.  Bobcat Goalie Amanda Kraft recorded 21 saves in the loss.  The victory was The Chiefs, 7-6.  The team record stands at 9-4.

Thursday,  March 19, 2009 The Lady Chiefs faced Pine Crest for their second matchup of the season.  This time the more experienced Pine Crest squad simply outplayed Gibbons with a commanding 6-1 lead midway through the first half.  Kyley Brown and Brooke Bal each had three goals for the Panthers.   Maylis Broderick had three goals for the Chiefs and Sierra Carey had two goals.  The game ended in a 11-6 loss.  The team record now stands at 8-4. The next game is against Boca Raton Community High on Tuesday.

Tuesday,  March 17, 2009 Cardinal Gibbons Lady Chiefs met Saint Thomas Aquinas on their home turf for this St. Patrick's Day Classic.   Gibbons raced out to a 7-1 lead in the first half and slowed the pace down in the second half to defeat St. Thomas 9-3.  Goals were scored by Sarah Motta (3), Sierra Carey (3), Kiera Moran (1), Erin Nunziante (1) and Samantha Gomez (1).  Gibbons record now stands at 8-3.

This game ended in Gibbons favor, 13-2.  The Lady Chiefs record stands at 7-3.

Tuesday,  March 10, 2009 The Lady Chiefs lacrosse team traveled to Davie to meet up with University School Suns. From the outset this game was different as Gibbons stick handling skills has now climbed geometrically since the 22 days of all the girls playing together.  While far from perfect skills, the ladies are clearly on the path to battling competitively any of our district opponents.  Cardinal Gibbons women's lacrosse easily won this away game, 7-3.   Cardinal Gibbons record stands at 6-3.

Saturday, March 7, 2009 Gibbon's women's lacrosse hosted a district matchup with University School of NSU this morning.  The Suns were anchored by seniors attackers Stephanie Gore, Demi Marks and senior goalie Jessica Parker.   The Lady Chiefs continue to come together as a team; however, by halftime the Chiefs fell behind 3-1.  The ladies battled back to tie the game and led 7-6 late in the second half before ceding an equalizer to USchool.  The two teams remained deadlocked during the last seven minutes of regulation. USchool needed just fifty (50) seconds in overtime to get the go ahead goal and that's how it ended some five minutes and ten seconds later.  It was an excellent learning experience for both Lady Chief's players and coaches; and something to build upon.  The Lady Chiefs record is 5-3

Saturday, February 28, 2009 The Lady Chiefs lacrosse team traveled to the St. Andrews Tournament in Boca Raton and faced two strong opponents in W.T. Dwyer HS and Benjamin School.  Gibbons came out on top in both games.  Kristie Neubauer has 24 and 21 saves respectively. Cardinal Gibbons record stands at 5-2.

Thursday, February 26, 2009 The Lady Chiefs met the Pine Crest Panthers in an away game at PCS.  Gibbons had one week of practice as an entire team and fought Pine Crest valiantly.  With so many young and inexperienced defenders on the field, the Lady Chiefs were unable to stop Eleyna Garcia as she tallied 6 goals for the Panthers in a 11-9 loss.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 Cardinal Gibbons women's lacrosse team traveled to Cardinal Newman in West Palm Beach.  The Lady Chiefs looked to make up for two losses in the 2008 season and to further test their ability to come together as a team.    Gibbons showed much promise in their 13-8 victory.  The Lady Chiefs record is 3-1.

Thursday, February 19, 2009 The Lady Chiefs played North Broward at home and easily won the match, 15-2.  The game provided a good experience for the coaches to see how all the new players on the squad fit in.  The coaching staff is confident the Lady Chiefs will be in prime form for district competition.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Five Lady Chiefs varsity soccer players are now eligible to attend their first practice of the lacrosse season after concluding the FHSAA Soccer Finals this past Saturday, February 14, 2009.    Gibbons has nine days to come together as a team before facing a strong Pine Crest team.
